As we’d previously suggested, the islands are getting more Hawaii flights, this time again at the hands of Alaska Air. This is capping what has been a stellar year for Hawaii travel deals, in large part due to competition between Hawaiian Air and Alaska, with the new addition of flights from Allegiant Air. There’s never been a better time to plan an economical Hawaii vacation.
First, if you haven’t checked recently, there are still Hawaii travel deals available for winter travel starting at $111 each way, including tax!
New service was announced today connecting San Diego and Lihue Kauai. It will commence in June’s 2013 peak summer Hawaii travel season. This comes on the heals of their new Portland to Kauai Hawaii flights, which started last week. The starting fare may not seem like one of our Hawaii travel deals. It is however actually nearly 50% off the fare you’d expect for summer Hawaii vacation dates between the west coast and a neighbor island. Stay tuned, as we expect to see more fare sales inaugurating this new Hawaii airline route.
With these additional Hawaii flights, Alaska now serves three islands from San Diego: Oahu, Maui and Kauai. They’ve become a strong contender in both Hawaii and San Diego. They have service to four Hawaiian Islands from eight mainland cities and will offer 160 flights a day out of San Diego starting next summer. San Diego is also served by Hawaiian Air, which flies daily to Honolulu.
